This is the house built in 1853 by Hiram D. Scott, who was probably the first European to live in the Scotts Valley. The house originally stood on Scotts Valley drive, about where the current Bank of America building is now located. It was moved uphill several years ago. The house is now maintained by the The Scotts Valley Historical Society. Scott encouraged other family members to move to the valley with him. In 1966 the City of Scotts Valley was incorporated, using the name of its first European family.
